Change to Teams

MICROSOFT TEAMS As many staff members are now back in school teaching throughout the week, you will now need to use the YEAR 2 GROUP on TEAMS on a MONDAY TO THURSDAY between 10 and 12 o’ clock, where a member of the Year 2 Staff will be available to talk to you. On FRIDAY you can use your CLASS GROUP and chat to your own teachers. Remember you can use TEAMS to ask for help about work, to show work or just to have a chat with friends.

READING HOME LEARNING – Week Beginning: 15.6.20

This week’s Reading Home Learning is attached as a PDF file below. Here you will find the text ‘Explore a woodland habitat’ and a series of reading tasks related to the text. We have also launched ‘Fiction Express’ this week for our More Able Readers (see earlier post). Remember, if your child did not pass the Phonics Screening Test in Year 1, please focus on the Phonics PPT instead. The additional PDF file provides a selection of differentiated ‘Number the Events’ tasks (SATs style tasks) which you can choose from. There are 3 or 4 tasks provided for each level of ability Beginner, Easy or Tricky and these work in the same format as Clouds, Moon and Stars. Happy reading everyone!

2RM’s work this week!

It has been great seeing all your work, especially the Traction Man videos!

Look at what 2AD have been up to!

Reading for Enjoyment

FICTION EXPRESS

For our More Able Readers, we are able to provide Fiction Express – an online reading platform, designed to engage children in Reading. Each half term, 3 new books are published in weekly chapters (our pupils will need to access the Level 1 title). What happens next is completely up to the readers. Using their votes, they are able to decide where the plot goes next. Then the author will bring the most popular choice to life! There are options to chat with the author, take part in online quizzes, plus lots of reading activities linked to the book too!

Why not begin your reading journey with this new title, starting from Friday 12th June?

Click on the link below. You will need a login and password to access the site. Email your teacher for your unique login and password. Read the chapter, then email us to tell us what you thought about it. What would you like to happen next? You have a whole week to do this, before the next chapter is released.

Remember, you can email us with any questions that you may have. We love hearing about what the children have been up to and seeing some photographs and examples of their hard work. A member of the Year 2 Staff is always available to live chat too on Microsoft Teams, Monday – Friday between 10:00 and Midday. Please use the Year 2 Group Chat. The children are also able to chat to their classmates on Teams, during these times too. We can’t wait to see more of you on there!
