Reading for Enjoyment

FICTION EXPRESS

For our More Able Readers, we are able to provide Fiction Express – an online reading platform, designed to engage children in Reading. Each half term, 3 new books are published in weekly chapters (our pupils will need to access the Level 1 title). What happens next is completely up to the readers. Using their votes, they are able to decide where the plot goes next. Then the author will bring the most popular choice to life! There are options to chat with the author, take part in online quizzes, plus lots of reading activities linked to the book too!

Why not begin your reading journey with this new title, starting from Friday 12th June?

Click on the link below. You will need a login and password to access the site. Email your teacher for your unique login and password. Read the chapter, then email us to tell us what you thought about it. What would you like to happen next? You have a whole week to do this, before the next chapter is released.

Remember, you can email us with any questions that you may have. We love hearing about what the children have been up to and seeing some photographs and examples of their hard work. A member of the Year 2 Staff is always available to live chat too on Microsoft Teams, Monday – Friday between 10:00 and Midday. Please use the Year 2 Group Chat. The children are also able to chat to their classmates on Teams, during these times too. We can’t wait to see more of you on there!

Book Reviews

It is great to see that you are all still enjoying reading! We love reading your book reviews. Here are a couple of book reviews from Stefan and Grace G (2AS).

Grace G also enjoyed reading Traction Man this week. She acted out the story with her Barbie doll and changed the title to Traction Girl. What a wonderful idea Grace! Excellent work!

Don’t forget to keep playing on TT Rockstars to improve your recall of Times Table facts. You can play any of the games…

STARS OF THE WEEK! Week beginning 1.6.20

We are all so impressed with your commitment to the Home Learning during these difficult times. We have really enjoyed receiving all your emails to let us know how you have been getting on and photographs of work that you are particularly proud of; they really brighten up our day! This week we feel that these children deserve a special mention for all their hard work…

Phoebe W (2AD) for consistent effort and great research and creative work on penguins, Sofia A (2AS) for super dedication to the home learning and a wonderful poem ‘Forest hunt’. Abdul-Haadi (2RM) for consistently hard work every week since school closure. Well done!

2RM’s hard work

Thank you for all your hard work. I love receiving your emails telling me about everything you have been up to.
