Together Everybody Achieves More

Week beginning 9th November 2026

The children have had a wonderful first week back after half term and have been very busy!

This week, we are continuing to explore our exciting topic on ‘Celebrations’. The children will have plenty of opportunities to share, listen, and talk about the special celebrations that matter to them and their families.

As part of this topic, we will be focusing on an important theme: celebrating that we are all different! Together, we will be encouraging the children to think about their unique talents and the things they are good at, while continuing to practice the essential skill of listening carefully to others. We will also be focusing on kindness by encouraging the children to celebrate their own daily achievements and warmly support their friends.

On Wednesday this week we will be asking the children to have a one minute silence in order to recognise ‘Remembrance Day’. The children will learn about why we mark this occasion and it’s importance.

The children have responded amazingly well to their new phonics groups and are now familiar with their phonics teacher. They will continue to revise sounds as well as work on the skill of blending sounds together for reading and writing. Please check their reading diaries as they will have their weekly reading activities that will be sent home. It’s really important that you spend some time with your child doing this as we want them to become confident learners as well as reading enthusiasts. Reading to your child at home (just for 5-10mins) will also promote a love of reading!

In Maths this week we will be looking at Number 4! This will include exploring how four can be arranged using cubes; looking at shapes that have four sides; sorting shapes and then we will end our week with a shape hunt (looking for squares and rectangles) around the school!

Perhaps ask your child to have look at home – can they spot any Circles or Triangles?

On Friday 13th November we will be celebrating ‘Children in Need’. This year’s theme is ‘Dress as a duo’ where children and staff are invited to team up with a friend and come dressed as a famous duo or matching pair. Alternatively, if your child would prefer not to dress up as a duo they can simply wear yellow to show their support and spread a bit of sunshine! We are asking for a £1 donation to take part and all proceeds will go to ‘Children in Need’. The staff are very excited about Friday and look forward to greeting you all on the door!

Have a great week!
