This week we are continuing with our topic on pirates as the children have really enjoyed it and are keen to learn more. We will do a variety of activities linked to pirates and will be reading several pirate stories. The children will be helping to write our own pirate story as well as helping to design a pirate ship. We will talk about the good things pirates could do and discuss what the bad things that pirates did.

This week the children will be completing their final Read Write Inc. assessment of the year. The results of this assessment will help us to set the children’s groups for after the summer holiday. It is really important that your child continues to read over the summer so that they do not loose any of the knowledge they have gained this year. You can continue to log on to Oxford Owl where if you click on Fred the Frog you can find all the books that have been set for your child so they can have an extra practice.

This week in Mathematics we will be recapping on some of the topics we have covered over the year. We will be looking at doubling, halving, number bonds to 10, time and money. Below are some of the songs the children like to sing to help with some of these topics.

We can’t believe that we are nearly at the end of the year. The children have all progressed so much over the last academic year and are now getting ready for their move into Year 1. We are continuing to prepare the children by talking about the move and visiting their new classroom. We will open up the gates to Year 1 so they can get used to the space and the Year 1 staff will come down to spend some time with the children. Please help to prepare your child by talking about the move, walking them passed the classroom when possible and even waving to their new teachers on the door.

A reminder that EYFS sports day is on Tuesday 7th July. Morning Nursery and RMT will be doing the morning sports day at 9.00am. Afternoon Nursery and RKB will be doing the afternoon session at 2.00pm. Please only come to the session that your child will be involved in. Can we also remind you to apply sun cream to your child before they come in to school and provide a sun hat and a water bottle.
Have a lovely week
