On Monday, Year 5 travelled back to the night of 14th November 1940 to experience the Coventry Blitz. They used the text of Goodnight Mr Tom to start their drama work – arriving on the train in the countryside to avoid Coventry in the West Midlands. The pupils took part in poetry writing using drama techniques and then created their own multi-media artwork of the “Moonlight Sonata” depicting the 13-hour long attack on Coventry. Pupils came dressed for the part; including a war-time snack and enjoying letters form home! We would like to thank the many parents and carers who went to the trouble of writing a lovely heart-felt letter to their child (wartime style). Thank you also to Ben and his family who provided 5SR each with a war-time welsh cake! A brilliant experience for the pupils at Coundon as part of the local history week.
