Talk to your child about why they choose that book. Encourage your child to make predictions on what the book might be about? -Ask questions about what the child has read? In stories, can they recall the main events? Can they discuss the characters and give reasons as to why characters behaved the way they did or why events happened, based on what they have read?

National School Sport Week 20th -26th June

How do you fancy challenging friends, family or neighbours to some fun, virtual sporting activities?

At national children’s charity, the Youth Sport Trust, we are determined to ensure that young people stay active and connected through this difficult time. We’ve been helping families do this with our daily #StayHomeStayActive activities since March and now we’re challenging the public to go one step further by joining us in our first ever National School Sport Week at Home, supercharged by Sky Sports.

Coundon Primary School is preparing to join the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports to help young people and families up and down the country engage in a week of virtual sporting challenges.

With young people set to miss out on their main school sport day this summer, the Youth Sport Trust is taking its annual National School Sport Week campaign beyond the school gates to parents and families – reinvented as National School Sport Week at Home.

Taking place from 20-26 June, the week will give families, communities, schools and sports clubs the opportunity to take part in a series of virtual sporting challenges which help young people capture the enjoyment, competition and camaraderie they may be missing out on and the Youth Sport Trust is delighted that Sky Sports will be helping to supercharge the campaign.

Those with children that are staying home: All that you need to do to take part is follow the activities found in this PowerPoint, make a note of the scores that you get and send a copy off to your child’s class teacher.

Those with children that are in school: Your children will be carrying out the set activities in school within their Bubble. If they are home for part of the week, then they can continue their challenge at home.

If you would like further activities to join in with, take a look at this:

We hope you all enjoy taking part, Mrs Gray and Miss Perrett x

STARS OF THE WEEK! Week Beginning: 8.6.20

With more and more of you sending in work and photographs of all your hard work, it is becoming increasingly difficult to choose our STARS OF THE WEEK! We are so impressed with all your effort and dedication and would like to take this opportunity to say a MASSIVE WELL DONE to you all! Keep up the fantastic work Year 2, you are all amazing!

The children that particularly impressed us last week were Qasim B (2AD) for doing an exceptional amount of work in all subjects to a high standard and Maesie L (2RM) for always completing her work to a really high standard too. There are two children chosen this week from 2AS: Alex D for his great Maths work and Bella G for a super mind map of Queen Victoria and her excellent Use of ICT to record her Science work! Well done!

If anyone else has completed a piece of work that they are particularly proud of, email it across to your teacher. We love to find out what you have been up and what you have enjoyed doing. We will do our best to post them onto the Blog for you.
