We are going on a bear hunt activities

This week we have been acting out and retelling the story ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ We had lots of fun acting the story out on the school field and even found a bear!

We all joined in the ring game ‘here we go round the Mulberry bush’ as we explored the frost on the field.

Going on a bear hunt activities

We have been reading the story ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ written by Michael Rosen. We have been recalling the story and joining in with the repeated refrains. We have acted out the story using props and made up our own actions.

Using bears we have played ‘Where is the bear?’ using the prepositions on, inside, under, next to and behind. You could practice these at home using a teddy bear and empty cardboard box.

Happy Diwali ✨✨✨

We have had a very busy week, this week. We have learnt all about the festival of Diwali and watched the story of Rama and Sita. We had lots of fun on Math’s day playing number and shape games and singing number rhymes. We learnt about Poppy day and had a minutes silence to remember and thank all the soldiers and we have had a fun filled Pudsey day for Children in Need.

Pumpkin Competition

Well done to everyone who took part in our Pumpkin competition, they were amazing!! The judges had a really hard time picking winners as they were all so good.

Congratulations to Zakariya H for his winning witch pumpkin and also to Emelia N and Isla W as runners up.

Bonfire Night

This week we have been learning about Bonfire Night, why we celebrate it and how to keep ourselves safe. We have explored different ways of using paint to create firework work pictures including splash painting, using cotton buds and using spray bottles. We have read the story called Sparks in the sky (Twinkl) and made chocolate sparkles – they were delicious.

Our Autumn Activities

Over the last 2 weeks we have been learning about Autumn and exploring the changes in the environment at this time of year. Here are some of the activities we have done.

Our Autumn Walk

Collecting Leaves

Meeting the chickens

Pumpkin Scooping

It’s Autumn

Our theme for the next few weeks in Nursery will be Autumn. We are looking at the changes in the environment and talking about what we see. We are reading the story Leaf Man and talking about all the different coloured leaves we see during Autumn time. We will be doing different Autumn crafts using leaves and going on an Autumn walk to our Forest School area looking for signs of Autumn.

If you are out on walks over the next few weeks please feel free to collect any Autumn objects you may find and bring them in to Nursery to share with the other children.

Welcome to Nursery

Hello everyone and welcome to Coundon Primary School Nursery.

We are so pleased with how all the children have settled into Nursery so far, they have been amazing, well done.

As parents are unable to come into Nursery at present we have taken some photos of how we look inside. Once we have all our photo consent forms back we will start uploading photos of our activities each week.

PE at Coundon… a few changes!

From September and in line with Government Guidance, we will be getting outside a lot more (in all sorts of weather conditions), this will include our PE lessons.

We will be asking the children to come into school on their PE days IN THEIR PE UNIFORM. (They will find out their PE days during the first week back). They will then stay in this for the day, so a change of clothes will not be needed in school. The main reason for this change is for safety reasons; it has been advised that we reduce the amount of belongings that are coming to and from each home and onto the school site.

For the older children, this change also comes about as there will be reduced space for them to change separately (boys and girls) due to them being in their class bubbles.

To make sure that the children are suitably dressed once the cooler weather sets in, we would like the children to have black jogging bottoms, a black hoody or sweatshirt and suitable outdoor footwear to wear alongside their usual white t-shirt and black shorts.

We thank you for your support with this.
