Mrs Cheshire has set up her own blog for Winnie titled ‘Paws for Positivity.’ Discover further information on Coundon’s favourite pooch, browse through the photographs and you can even try some of the activities ?
Are you watching any films over the Easter Holiday? Click on the link below for a range of activities linked to films that you may have access to at home…
We would like to wish you all a Happy Easter! We hope you have had a wonderful weekend and that you have eaten lots of chocolate. We also hope that you are well and staying safe. We have missed you all. We have missed teaching you, talking to you, laughing with you and seeing all your wonderful smiles!
We understand that
these are very strange times but we would like you to try and still see the
next two weeks as the Easter holidays.
Therefore, we have suggested some activities that you might want to do
to keep yourselves busy and also a creative curriculum theme project.
Take care, stay
safe and keep smiling!

Each day White
Rose Maths are producing some creative Easter maths. Have a go…
Have you ever
wondered how the Romans built their roads or transported the water using
aqueducts? We would like you to learn
about them and then have a go at making one of them.
First, carry out
some research about Roman roads and aqueducts.
Here you will find information telling you all about roads and aqueducts.
Next, these two worksheets also tell you about them. Answer the questions in your book.
Finally, choose either Roman roads or aqueducts and have a go at creating a model at home using the things you can find around the house.
Here are some photos…
Creative fun
Have a look at the
grid attached. On it there are lots of
creative and fun things to do or make.
How creative can be?
Time capsule
The document below is away of recording different things as a ‘time capsule, which have happened during these strange times.
Firstly, we would like to wish you all the best wishes and hope everyone is safe and healthy. We are really missing you all and hope that you are still enjoying learning at home. Although a strange, worrying time we would like to still treat these next two weeks as an Easter break of sorts. Therefore, we are only suggesting a topic-based project, similar to what would usually be set over a holiday. This topic project is based on your ‘Tomb Raiders’ topic in school.
1. We would like you to complete some research into Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses. You could complete your own research if you like, and we have suggested a few websites that may be of use for this below. Or you could read through the PowerPoint that we have provided for some relevant information.
2. Following this, you should create a fact file on a God or Goddess of your choice, either using the outline provided, or using your own paper/books.
3. Lastly, you should then design your own Egyptian God or Goddess. The God could be completely original in terms of looks, clothing and purpose or it could take inspiration from the Gods from your research. You should draw this God and describe it, ensuring you have included the following:
The God’s name
A description or origin of the God
What powers or controls they have
What symbols they represent
What does the God help Ancient Egyptians to understand? E.g. natural occurrences such as thunder or rain
You could even write the God’s name in hieroglyphics! Again, you could use the same template used for the first fact file for this information or you could create a poster/design of your choice!
We hope you enjoy
this project and have a restful, enjoyable couple of weeks,
despite the peculiar circumstances we find ourselves in!
Hello Everyone, This will be our last blog until after the Easter break. After all of your hard learning at home you all deserve a lovely Easter break, as do all the home schooling parents. Enjoy the Easter break as much as you possibly can. Play games together, watch some films, get out into your garden if you can and enjoy being together. We have put together some craft ideas to do if you want to over the break. You could also make up your own obstacle courses, make up your own song or dance and maybe even do your own Easter egg hunt in your home or garden. You could even try to draw a map and see if someone can follow it to find the egg!
After the Easter break we will be changing the way we do our home learning. Each week we will be uploading a Phonics PowerPoint for the different Phonics groups, a Maths PowerPoint and and another PowerPoint with a range of activities. These PowerPoints will give an activity to do each day and will be in line with the activities the children would have been doing in School (Remember a large majority of Reception children’s learning is done through their play and the interactions the adults have and the questions they ask). Activities should only last about 20-30 minutes so don’t feel the children have to be sat doing school work all day long. Each class will also have an email address that we would like you to upload one piece of work per week. Staff will then reply to that piece of work. Please do not send in a picture of every piece of work as we will only reply to one piece for each child each week. This way we hope to keep in touch and can see if you are managing to do some home learning. We will let you know the email address after the Easter break on this blog.
Have a wonderful Easter with your families. Remember the greatest thing you can do now is stay safe at home. You can go out for some exercise each day but try and stay close to home and away from Parks and other spaces where lots of people may go. We are very proud of you all and miss you very much. Stay safe and enjoy your Easter treats over the weekend.
We will see you all soon and remember to decorate a picture of an egg and pop it in your window so we can spot them on our daily walk. Mrs Towner has her egg up in her window already.
We are aware that this
will be a very different Easter holiday for many.
We have created a range of ideas and activities that you can get involved in.
Reading – READ,
READ, READ! One of the most important life skills and links to so many areas of
your learning. Read books at home. Read Fiction Express. Read magazines. We
would love to hear about what you have been enjoying reading and some recommendations.
Maths – TT
ROCKSTARS!! We know we say it all the time, but play, play and play some more.
Challenge your teachers. Challenge your friends. Improve your ‘Rock Status’.
Look out for live challenges with the teachers too. (The first one will be Tuesday
14th April at 10am)
Creative Curriculum – This work could be completed in your exercise books or on the computer (as a powerpoint or even a video presentation)
Ancient Mayan Sites Can you research some more information about the Mayans. Your challenge is to find out as much as you can about the main ancient Mayan sites such as Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba.
Your challenge is to then create a travel guide for tourists on a visit to Mayan Mexico. Considerations to make: clear accurate information with the location of attractions, best way to get the attractions, how much seeing the attractions costs, what the must see and must do things are etc…
Review Write a review about your learning of the Mayans for year 4. What have you learnt? What was the best part of the topic? (e.g. Learning about the sacrifices, learning about the gods, map work, Mayan myths?)
More Activities – (You
do not need to complete all of these activities!)
Have a look at the ‘100 Things to do at Home’. Which ones will you try and
complete??
Have a look at the ‘Home Learning Grid’. Which ones will you try and complete??
During this holiday, it is also important that you do some of the things that
you enjoy and we look forward to hearing all about it when we are back at school.
Winnie and Mrs Cheshire have set up a blog to show you what they have been getting up to whilst at home. There are lots of helpful tips to keep you ‘pawsitive’ during these difficult times. Check it out!
