The CSW Virtual School Games is an opportunity for pupils to engage in competition at home whilst still feeling part of their school team. All Competitions are open to pupils from KS1-KS4. Competitions will launch each Monday at 9:45am on Twitter (Danny Kingham @CGOCoventryWest) with entries closing at 1pm on Friday of the same week. You will have a week to practice and complete the challenges and enter the competitions through a Survey Monkey link. Results will be announced each Friday via the @ThinkActiveCSW Twitter page at 5pm. This week’s challenge is Cricket (see below)

Real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is great for family play and fun.
For children in Key Stage 2, there are carefully selected personal best challenges, skills and games designed for the home and garden.

For English this week, we would like you to continue with the online lessons from the Oak National Academy. Last week’s lessons focused on writing instructions. We would like to read some of your written instructions. This week’s focus is on descriptive writing of settings.

Listen to the extracts, followed by some of the activities that you can do throughout the week. Let us know what you think about the book. The extracts in this lesson will help you consider and explain why the writer chooses specific language.
During the Microsoft Teams chat, it was wonderful to see that a group of you are accessing this website. You are all reading different books from a range of genres although the book Mystery At Moon Base One by Alex Wolf, appears to be quite popular. Remember to email your book reviews and opinions on the books that you read 🙂 Great to see quizzes have been completed.

For spellings this week, read through each sentence and identify the word which has been spelt incorrectly and then correct it. Afterwards, look through the answer sheet and check to see if you have identified all the misspelt words correctly. If you are looking for a further challenge then have a go on the Spelling Crossword. There is also a wordsearch too.

As Scientists, your task for this week is to gain a better understanding of the function of the eye. First of all, watch the video on the BBC Bitesize website, followed by the PowerPoint. Following that, we would like you to then label the parts of the eye. There is pdf document for you to either print our or to draw in to your book as well as an answer pdf.
In this lesson, you will recap your knowledge from last week and build on your knowledge by learning the days of the week. You can then use this, as well as your previous knowledge of months and numbers, to say the date in Spanish! For this lesson you will need some paper and a pen or pencil to write down your new vocabulary.
We are excited to announce that from this week, we will be using ‘Microsoft Teams’ to help stay in touch during these challenging times. Your teacher will call you to help you to get started. In order to access Microsoft Teams, type the address www.office.com (or use the link below) and use the email address and password that you have been given over the phone. (If you have not been given this, please email your class teacher.)
When you sign in for the first time, you will be asked to change your password. Make this unique and something that you will be able to remember. (Note: Always keep your passwords secret) Once you have signed in, you will see a welcome sign with a range of Microsoft applications. You will be able to send an email to your class teacher (through Outlook) using one of the class email addresses below. The settings on your account means that you can only send emails to your teachers and only receive emails from your teachers. As a pupil, you will also be able to access a wide range of on-line applications, such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. These may help you to complete future work. You will also be able to see a symbol that says ‘Teams’. This is the application that we can use to help to keep in touch. You can log in and post messages to the groups / channels / teams that you have been assigned to. A teacher from the Year 6 team will be available between 10-12 pm each day, starting from Wednesday 13th May. We hope to ‘see’ you on there soon 🙂

Lessons in English and Maths will be presented either through the National Oaks Academy website or BBC Bitesize – using their online lessons. Try out the quizzes and the online activities. Identify and find out the meanings of any ‘amazing’ vocabulary that you discover whilst reading. Recap on your knowledge of fractions, decimals numbers, percentages, etc. Record your answers in your exercise book and then check your answers.
