National School Sport Week 20th -26th June

How do you fancy challenging friends, family or neighbours to some fun, virtual sporting activities?

At national children’s charity, the Youth Sport Trust, we are determined to ensure that young people stay active and connected through this difficult time. We’ve been helping families do this with our daily #StayHomeStayActive activities since March and now we’re challenging the public to go one step further by joining us in our first ever National School Sport Week at Home, supercharged by Sky Sports.

Coundon Primary School is preparing to join the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports to help young people and families up and down the country engage in a week of virtual sporting challenges.

With young people set to miss out on their main school sport day this summer, the Youth Sport Trust is taking its annual National School Sport Week campaign beyond the school gates to parents and families – reinvented as National School Sport Week at Home.

Taking place from 20-26 June, the week will give families, communities, schools and sports clubs the opportunity to take part in a series of virtual sporting challenges which help young people capture the enjoyment, competition and camaraderie they may be missing out on and the Youth Sport Trust is delighted that Sky Sports will be helping to supercharge the campaign.

Those with children that are staying home: All that you need to do to take part is follow the activities found in this PowerPoint, make a note of the scores that you get and send a copy off to your child’s class teacher.

Those with children that are in school: Your children will be carrying out the set activities in school within their Bubble. If they are home for part of the week, then they can continue their challenge at home.

If you would like further activities to join in with, take a look at this:

We hope you all enjoy taking part, Mrs Gray and Miss Perrett x

Microsoft Teams

Over the last few days, it has been great to speak to so many over the phone. However what we have realised is that not all of you have been able to access ‘Teams’ to keep in touch with your teachers and friends from year five. Below is a reminder about how to access it. Remember it is open every weekday from 10-12 so please log in to say ‘Hello’
Please also send us emails to show us your work. Each week we would like to create a showcase on the blog of a selection of activities and work that you have completed through the week…

You will need to go to www.office.com and use the email address and password that you have been given. (If you do not have this please ask an adult to email your class teacher.)
When you sign in for the first time you will be asked to change your password. Make this unique and something that you will be able to remember. (Note: Always keeps your passwords secret.)
Once you have signed in you will should see a welcome sign. You will now be able to send an email to your class teacher using one of the email addresses below. The settings on your account means that you can only send emails to your teachers and only receive emails from your teachers.
You will also be able to access a wide range of on-line applications, such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. These may help you to complete future work.
You will also be able to see a symbol that says ‘Teams’. This is the application that we can use to help to keep in touch. You can log in and post messages to the groups / channels / teams that you have been assigned to.
