Year 3 MVP sessions with Year 6

On Friday 4th April, 4 year 6 children came down to year 3 to deliver a special session on ‘Sportsmanship. They played some warm up activities with the children to help them to relax and then they shared some scenarios with the children. The children were also given time to act out the scenarios before discussions took place around the situation.

The children had to think about how each of the characters in the situation would be feeling, including the bystander. They had to give reasons why they may be feeling this way and also think of suggestions of how the children in the scenario could have handled the situation differently.

Our year 6 visitors were great, they shared the session with maturity and listened to everything that the year 3s had to say, guided them when they needed support.

Thank you Saim, Amelia, Lewis and Ruby!

Gymnastics County Final

After securing first place in the year 3 gymnastics for Coventry West, our amazing team of gymnasts went to compete in the county finals on Thursday 27th March. They came into school early for one final practice with their committed coaches; Miss Thompson and Mrs Howarth.

The children were very excited to be competing against schools from Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull and put an incredible amount of effort into their floor and vault routines. They may not have placed at county level but we are super proud of them and they are all winners to us.

Year 3 Ancient Egyptian Day

On Thursday 20th March, Year 3 celebrated our topic of Ancient Egyptians by participating in an Egyptian day! We dressed up in costumes and had lots of fun engaging in many activities.

These activities included: learning about hieroglyphics, Egyptian Gods and Goddesses,

Creating Egyptian collars,

Exploring a tomb,

Painting an Egyptian landscape and drawing a symmetrical picture of Cleopatra.

Everyone had a great time and looked fab!

Lionesses Match Day 3 – year 3/4 girls

On Tuesday 4th March, a selection of children from the girl’s football club were chosen to take part in their third match day at the AT7 Centre. Here they competed against 3 other football teams. The girls have been training hard as part of their afterschool club with Mr Bordley, and their favourite coaches; Coach Valentine and Coach Howarth, have been there supporting them every step of the way.

Our scores were as follows:

2-0 win against templars

2-0 loss against Grange farm

1-1 draw against Willenhall

All the girls played really well and were, as always, a credit to our school.

Year 3 Gymnastics Competition

A selection of ten budding gymnasts from year 3 attended a gymnastics competition on Tuesday, 25th February at Tribe Cheer and Fitness. These children have been training hard for this competition during their PE lessons and putting in extra practices at lunch times to perfect their routines with Mr Bordley, Miss Thompson and Mrs Howarth.

They represented the school wonderfully, showing all of their school values and we would have been proud of them whatever their scores. Their dedication certainly showed on the day and paid off, as they placed first! They will now represent Coventry Schools in the County Finals!

Well done and fingers crossed for the finals!

Lionesses Match Day 2 – year 3/4 girls

On Tuesday 11th February, a selection of children from the girl’s football club were chosen to take part in their second match day at the AT7 Centre. Here they competed in a girl’s football competition.

We played four matches, losing two and winning two. These included Broad Heath who we lost against 3-0, Finham who we beat 4-0 and then finally Christ the King, who we won 2-1 against. All the girls played really well and were a credit to our school. We look forward to playing more matches!

Year 3 Animal Adoption

As part of our English this term, the children wrote leaflets persuading people to adopt a tiger or a polar bear.  As part of this, the children and parents kindly raised enough money so that each class could adopt an animal..  We can proudly say that 3AT have adopted a tiger and 3GW have adopted a polar bear.  We are so proud of their enthusiasm and commitment with helping these endangered animals.  Well done Year 3!
