Maths Photo Competition

During this week, your child has participated in maths activities related to Coventry, including its history.

As part of this, we are running a maths photo competition ‘Looking at Coventry Through Maths Eyes’. The aim of this is to help everyone realise that maths is all around us and our local environment is mathematically rich. Using the things around us is a superb way to engage your child in talking about maths.

Over half term, we would like you and your child to take a photo/snapshot of familiar things that capture some aspect of real-life mathematics in and around Coventry.  We would like you to send your photo into us with a mathematical question (see examples below).  There are prizes up for grabs!

Please send your ‘Looking at Coventry Through Maths Eyes’ photos/questions to Mrs Walton by Wednesday 1st March to [email protected]    Please state clearly your child’s name and class.

Indian Spice

On the 24th November, Year 2 had a fabulous time tasting a range of Indian food to enrich our topic of “Indian Spice”. We tasted naan bread, vegetable curry, samosas and pakoras. It was a great experience as many of us had never tried these foods before! After eating, we evaluated the food and thought about which foods we liked and which were not to our taste. Coundon Wedge Trip

This week we visited Coundon Wedge to explore the seasonal changes. We were also looking out for physical features of our local environment. We had great fun, despite the mud! Take a look at some of the photos from our visit below.

Mrs Stoyles Visit

Mrs Stoyles visited Year 2 to tell us all about her various trips to India. She shared photographs with us and showed us some artefacts. It was very interesting and we learnt many fascinating facts.

Wheels Day

On the 6th October, we enjoyed playing on our bikes, scooters and skates for our Wheels Day. This was for our Science topic where we were looking at exercise and the effect it has on the body. Here are some pictures of our day!
