We have been talking about and learning about ourselves, our families and each other. We have been looking at the similarities and differences between each other and in our families. We have been looking at photographs of ourselves as babies and discussing how we have grown and changed.
These past 2 weeks the children in Nursery have been learning all about different people who help us and showing an interest in different occupations.
Here are some of the activities we have done.
Learning about Oral Health and the role of the Dentist.
Role play – The Doctors
Firefighters
The Police
PC Stewart and PCSO Sephton came to visit Nursery and talked to the children all about the role of the police officer. The children were able to try on the uniforms and explore the police van. The children loved it ❤
We have been learning about the story of ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ We have talked about the lifecycle of the butterfly, healthy eating and learnt our days of the week and how to make repeating patterns.
During this week, your child has participated in maths activities related to Coventry, including its history.
As part of this, we are running a maths photo competition ‘Looking at Coventry Through Maths Eyes’. The aim of this is to help everyone realise that maths is all around us and our local environment is mathematically rich. Using the things around us is a superb way to engage your child in talking about maths.
Over half term, we would like you and your child to take a photo/snapshot of familiar things that capture some aspect of real-life mathematics in and around Coventry. We would like you to send your photo into us with a mathematical question (see examples below). There are prizes up for grabs!
Please send your ‘Looking at Coventry Through Maths Eyes’ photos/questions to Mrs Walton by Wednesday 1st March to [email protected] Please state clearly your child’s name and class.
