In Nursery this week we have been learning about the season Spring.
We have been looking at the changes in the environment and in the weather and talking about what sort of things we might see when we are out and about such as new flowers, buds on the trees and baby animals.
We have learnt some new Spring songs called ‘It must be Spring’, ‘Raindrops’ and ‘Spring in my toes’
We have been painting some lovely Spring pictures and collaging Daffodil’s. This is our Spring display.
Please find this week’s homework below. For English we are continuing to practise our reading comprehension skills and for Maths we are continuing to practise our facts.

Congratulations to Bharkavi in 2AD for her super robo-bug design.
Congratulations to Lewis in 2AS for super neat work and a super attitude to learning!
The Reception team would like to say a very big well done to all of the children, for settling in so well with their return to school. It has been lovely seeing them so excited to be back with their friends and teachers, and their smiling faces again.
In phonics this week, we will be reviewing our learning and reminding the children of the digraphs and trigraph we have already learned. Our new learning will be focused on the digraphs ‘ur’, ‘ow’ and ‘oi’. We will be asking the children to think of some words with the new sounds in and to choose one of these words to write a sentence. We will also be having fun with our learning, by playing some phonics games.
In maths this week, we will be consolidating our Spring learning. We will be focusing on numeral recognition by playing matching the number to the picture games. We will also be recapping the composition of 6, how many ways can you make 6? The children will be using different objects to discover this.
In the wider curriculum, we will be learning all about mini-beasts and the different habitats they live in. We will be going on a mini-beast hunt around the school grounds and identifying which ones we can see. We will also be learning about St Patricks day on Wednesday and recycling on Thursday, in celebration of ‘World Recycling Day’. At home, show the children the different bins we put different materials in and why it is important to recycle.
In Reception, we are starting to collect junk for the children to start junk modelling. If you have any cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, yoghurt pots etc. it would be fantastic to bring these into school. Please be assured, that any junk that is brought into school will be quarantined for 48 hours before given to the children to play with. Also, another reminder that the children need to come into school in their P.E kit on Thursdays.
