English end of week writing task 27.4.20

Sorry for any confusion with the English Home Leaning Power point. You will find the Adjectives and Adverbs Power point and the Seaside Senses poem on separate tabs below. The writing task that children need to complete for this week is their own Seaside Senses Poem, following the structure of the poem given. The task on the final slide just asks the children to think if they can generate more interesting sentences about the seaside by including effective adjectives and adverbs. Hope this helps!

PYJAMARAMA

On Friday 1st May it will be Pyjamarama Day. The Book Trust would like you to celebrate the day with your family to read, carry out some fun reading activities and to stay in your pyjamas ALL DAY! TT Rockstar Champions

It was the third ‘Teachers v Year 5 Pupils’ today. The winners were the teachers, but it was incredibly close and they only won by 37 points!!

Well done to all who took part, with a special mention to Navtej, Arjun and Tristan who were 1st, 2nd and 3rd most valuable players respectively.

Explore the world of books!

The National Literacy Trust, alongside Bloomsbury have created The Book of Hopes. An extraordinary collection of short stories, poems, essays and pictures from more than 110 children’s writers and illustrators, including Lauren Child, Anthony Horowitz, Greg James and Chris Smith, Michael Morpurgo, Liz Pichon, Axel Scheffler, Francesca Simon and Jacqueline Wilson. The book is dedicated to the doctors, nurses, carers, porters, cleaners and everyone currently working in hospitals.

On Friday the 1st May, it is the Book Trust’s Pyjamarama day.  This year they are encouraging families to join a festival of story-filled fun at home.   So get in to your pyjamas, grab a book and read together. The website contains more information, suggested books and activities.
