It is Half Term this week so there are no PPTs for home learning. PPTs will resume on Monday 1st June. There is no expectation for the children to be working this week but it would be lovely if they could join in with the TT Rockstars Battle: Girls v Boys; the battle ends on Thursday. Please remember that the Oxford Owl website has over 350 e-books, covering all reading levels, so if your child has finished their reading book and you would like them to have a new book, then please choose one from here or a free choice book from home is just as good. Have a well deserved rest, stay safe and enjoy the sunshine everyone!
Once again you have all astounded us with your effort and hard work Year 2. Our ‘Stars of the Week’ for last week are: Shaurya (2AD) for his fantastic time machine, Ethan (2RM) for continuing to improve his handwriting and presentation skills and Elisha (2AS) for his super research on Florence Nightingale and an amazing commitment to home learning. Well done to you all!
Well done everybody you have made it to half term (extra special well done parents!). Please make sure you have a lovely break over the week. We have been very impressed with all of the pictures of work that we are being sent by email each week. It is lovely to see how you are engaging with the work set and to know you are working hard even when you are not at school. This week we have seen some fantastic mini-beast work, we hope you enjoyed it. Her are some photos of some of this weeks lovely work:
There is no expectation to do any work over the half term break. We would love you to keep reading though so if you can then please remember to visit the Oxford Owl website to read a range of online ebooks. Remember parents you can also read books to your child from this website too, just click the tab for ‘see all ebooks’ and you should be able to see a wide range of books from a variety of levels.
Staff are currently working hard to devise a plan for June 1st for the possible reopening of school to some children. Mrs Ellis will continue to keep you informed over email so please make sure you are reading the emails sent from school as these will have all of the relevant information in them and may also require a response from you.
Please find below a lovely little video that helps to prepare children for not being able to hug others. It will be difficult for young children to understand that they can’t meet and play with others in the same way that they did before but hopefully this will help to start those discussions so that children are prepared for when the time comes and we can see others again.
Have a lovely half term, we hope the sun shines and we all manage to have a safe relaxing time. Please try to ensure you and your family adhere to the social distancing rules as some children may be back in school after the break and we need to ensure all families safety
Next week is half term so your teachers will not be available on Teams and we also won’t be uploading any work to the Blog. I know we may well be seeing a lot of you from June 1st though so I’m looking forward to this!
If you want something to do over half term, I have a project idea for you. I came across the idea through a parent group that I am in. I have trialed it with families that live along my road and it was a huge success!
The idea is to create a ‘Zoo Trail’ around Coundon, so that when you are out for your daily exercise, it gives you something to look out for and hopefully you will have lots of fun doing it! All you need to do is choose one animal to research and create a display all about this animal outside your house in your front garden or on your driveway. I have added some pictures below for examples of what your display may look like. All that would be left to organise is a set date for all of Year One to put their displays outside. I’m sure all of your lovely parents will be able to help with this via the parent WhatsApp group.
Obviously the more people in the area that join in, the better! So why not invite neighbours with children to take part as well? You could create an invitation for a friend to take part or post a few flyers and put up a poster to let people know when and where it is happening.
We have loved seeing all of your English work based around Supertato! Well done to Florence, Gene, Maddie, Penny, Saba and Layla who have sent us some of their work this week! Next week is half term but if you would still like something to do, I’ve got a little project on here for you to complete.
We hope that you have a good half term holiday. (We hope the weather stays as beautiful as it has been). Next week, there will be no English, Maths, Science or Topic work. However, below we have added some activities that you might like to complete. Don’t forget to keep playing TT Rockstars and reading using Fiction Express. We would love to see what you get up to so please email us too.
