To All Our Amazing Superstars in Year 2!
To all of the pupils in Year 2 we want to say a huge Thank You! All the adults in your classes have loved teaching you and having you in our classes and we have really missed each one of you during lock-down. We are so sad that we have not been able to see you back in school again but we have LOVED seeing photos of your work that you have sent us. We have also enjoyed seeing and hearing about the new skills you have learnt and the fun that you have had with your families! You have been so wonderful and have adapted to the new challenges of having school at home. WELL DONE!
To Parents, we would all like to say a HUGE thank you! What a remarkable few months this has been! It would have been pointless planning work and putting it on the Year 2 blog if you hadn’t been there to read it, print it and help your children understand it! You have all been remarkable teachers! Many of you have taken the opportunity to help your children with their work and have recognised their strengths and weaknesses and helped your children blossom! Thank you for keeping in touch via email and being cheerful and upbeat on the phone. We have loved getting to know you all!
Year 3 Teachers are in for a treat! We have told them what a fantastic group of children they are getting. Do not worry about returning to school because we will be starting the year getting to know each other again and having lots of fun together.
Stay Safe! Enjoy the holiday and have a well deserved rest. I hope the sun continues to shine and we look forward to seeing you in school in September!
Dear Year 5,
It has come to the end of the academic year and what a year it has been! It has definitely been unique. We are so proud of you and how resilient you have been through this challenging time. We have really missed you and can’t wait to see you in September – even if you won’t be in our classes. We know how hard some of you have worked and how difficult it has been for many of you (and your parents). We wanted to say well done and we hope you have a good summer holiday.
Over the summer holidays we will not be posting work on the blog. However, we would encourage you to follow our tips so that you are ready to come back in September…
TIP 1: If you haven’t completed this already; write a letter to your new teacher to tell them about yourself. Here are just some ideas to get you started: What are your likes and dislikes? What hobbies do you have? What do you enjoy at school? What are you looking forward to about coming back in September?
TIP 2: Read. Keep reading as much as you can. Read books from home. Read ‘Fiction Express’. Read magazines. There is so much research into the difference reading over the summer holiday can make!!
TIP 3: Keep practising your number skills. Play on TT Rockstars. Use some of the links to Maths Games websites from the blog to keep up your Maths skills.
TIP 4: Get outside. We hope that the weather is beautiful over the summer holiday and you can get out for walks, bike rides or even some runs.
TIP 5: Enjoy the break from school work and rest well.
From Everyone in Year 5
To all the parents,
We would like to welcome you to Year 4! We know that this is not the normal way you would be meeting us, but we hope that you are excited to find out a little about your child’s new teachers. We are working hard to ensure that the return in September is as ‘normal’ as possible and we have been chatting to your child’s previous teachers to find out all about them. We are very excited to meet them and you.
To all the children,
We would like to welcome you all to Year 4! How strange that must be to hear! We know that things are different at the moment and most of you haven’t been in school for a very long time, however, we are working really hard setting up your new classrooms, ready for when you return. We can’t wait to meet you all and to get to know you. Below, you will find some information about each of the members of the Year 4 Team. Have a wonderful summer!
Mrs Walton, Mrs McManus, Mr Perkins, Miss Thompson, Mrs Alford, Mrs Walker and Mrs Ward!
Welcome to Reception for all those children starting with us in September. We are all so excited to meet you. Sorry we haven’t got to meet you yet but hopefully we will get to chat with you and your parents before you start in September. Please find below some welcome messages from the Reception staff so that you can see our faces and find out a little about us.
Have a wonderful summer. To help when you start in Reception work with your grown up to learn how to dress yourself, how to open your lunch items, how to put your shoes on and how to go to the toilet by yourself. We will see you all soon for lots of fun!
To our darling Year Ones,
We know things have been difficult over the last few months, many of you will not have seen any of your friends or loved ones but hopefully things will now begin to change for the better.
Regardless of the amount of home learning you may or may not have done, the most important thing is that you have remained safe and well during such hard times.
The Year One staff would like to say how proud we are of each and every one of you for carrying on through it all with a smile. It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you and watching you learn and grow.
Some of you will be excited about moving on to Year Two and some of you might be worried. Your Year Two teachers are amazing and they cannot wait to get to know you and care for you as you continue to grow.
To parents and carers, we truly appreciate how difficult it has been to find a balance between schooling, work and home life and we would like to thank you for all of your support during these uncertain times.
Have a wonderful summer holiday all and don’t worry, we will come and visit you in your new classes! You can’t get away from us that easily.
You will always be our ‘rainbow class’ of 2020. A year that will never be forgotten. Love from the Year One Team x
Well done everyone for all your hard work with home schooling! We understand it has been difficult and times and are very appreciative of all your efforts. We urge you to continue with the home schooling in this final week.
We would like you to continue with the phonics scheme this week. Miss Plimmer’s, Miss Warsop’s and Mrs Hollingsworth’s groups should carry on with the Reception learning for the week beginning 22nd June.
Miss Jones’ and Mrs Johnson’s groups should continue with the Reception tab from the 18th May.
Mrs Towner’s group should follow the Year 1 tab for the 22nd June.
We have attached the Oxford reading link below also to continue reading as much as possible.
This week’s maths is based on the story ‘how many legs’. It has some really nice sorting and grouping activities to have a go at and also activities consolidating ‘more and less than’ concepts using tens frames. We have attached the story on Youtube too.
We have also attached the link to the maths games site ‘top marks’ for a fun way to practice some skills.
This week we would like you to focus on the transition from Reception to Year 1. The Cautious caterpillar story is attached and some activities that refer to the story to help aid discussion and hopefully ease any anxieties about starting Year 1.
Thank you for being a wonderful Reception Year group. We are very sad that we didn’t get to finish the year with you. Have a fantastic summer break. We will come and see you all when you are in year 1. Sending you all big virtual hugs.

Dear Year 3,
It has been a roller-coaster of a year and we realise how difficult things have been and that over the last few months, you have been unable to see or be with your friends. However, the Year 3 staff would like to take this opportunity to express how proud we are of each and every one of you and we cannot praise you enough for all of your hard work, both in and out of school. It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you and a privilege watching you learn and grow. We realise that some of you will be excited about moving on to Year 4 and some of you might be worried, but we have told the Year 4 teachers how wonderful you all are and that they are in for a treat!
To parents and carers, we truly appreciate how difficult it has been to find a balance between schooling, work and home life and we would like to thank you for all of your support during these uncertain times.
Have a wonderful summer holiday and don’t forget to visit us when we are all back together. Take care and stay safe.
Best Wishes, The Year 3 Team.

If you’re at home and want your grown ups to take part too, then they should complete the activities that are aimed at KS2.
There are 7 games to complete, all of which can be found in the PowerPoint below.
