Hello

We would all like to say a big welcome to all of our new Reception children. It has been lovely seeing you all on Zoom this week and we can’t wait to meet you all next week for your settling in sessions.

Children across the school have been back for three days now and it that time we have been able to identify some of the difficulties with drop off and collection for those families with more than one child attending school. From Monday the drop off and collection arrangements are changing for the rest of the school. Mrs Maude is currently looking at the drop off and collection arrangements for Reception and if there is going to be any changes she will email a letter to you. Please keep an eye on your emails over the next few days for any changes.

We all can’t wait to meet you all properly. Remember to bring a named bottle with only water in and if bringing a packed lunch make sure it is in a named disposable bag or lunchbox that can be cleaned. Please remember all paperwork for Tuesday.

Welcome to the new term

Welcome to the new term!

Hello Year 5, hope you are all well and enjoying the final few days of the summer holidays. The Year 5 Team are really looking forward to seeing you all on your first day back on Wednesday 2nd September. From September, the way in which you arrive and leave school will be slightly different with each class arriving and leaving school at different times. You will be expected to meet your class teacher at the Southbank entrance. Below are the times for each class.

Please note that on the days when you will have P.E., you will need to come to school dressed in your P.E. kit for the day. We will inform you of the days in which you have P.E. during the first week back.

Please note: You are allowed to bring coats and bags.

Lunches: When bringing lunches into school, please remember that they must be in a disposable bag if possible. Lunch boxes can be brought into school, but must be taken home at the end of the day and cleaned.

Enjoy your last few days of the summer holiday and we will see you on Wednesday 2nd September 2020.

PE at Coundon… a few changes!

From September and in line with Government Guidance, we will be getting outside a lot more (in all sorts of weather conditions), this will include our PE lessons.

We will be asking the children to come into school on their PE days IN THEIR PE UNIFORM. (They will find out their PE days during the first week back). They will then stay in this for the day, so a change of clothes will not be needed in school. The main reason for this change is for safety reasons; it has been advised that we reduce the amount of belongings that are coming to and from each home and onto the school site.

For the older children, this change also comes about as there will be reduced space for them to change separately (boys and girls) due to them being in their class bubbles.

To make sure that the children are suitably dressed once the cooler weather sets in, we would like the children to have black jogging bottoms, a black hoody or sweatshirt and suitable outdoor footwear to wear alongside their usual white t-shirt and black shorts.

We thank you for your support with this.

Miss Kelly Perrett and Mrs Victoria Gray

Nursery Induction and Start dates

Nursery children will receive a door step visit by a member of Nursery staff in the week beginning 2nd September. Dates and Times have previously been shared with you.

Induction sessions will begin on Tuesday 8th September. The children will either be visiting Tuesday and Thursday 8.30- 10.30 or 1.30 – 3.30 or Wednesday and Friday 8.30-10.30 or 1.30 – 3.30. All times can be confirmed during your doorstep visits.

After their Induction period the children will be returning on Monday September 14th. There will be a staggered entry in 10-minute intervals. Your child will enter via the Nursery gate at 8.30 am, they will need to queue at 1m distance and will be met by Mrs Jones who will escort them to their new classroom. Unfortunately, the guidelines state that parents are still not allowed onto school site and if you are bringing your child to school, will need to say goodbye at the school entrance and leave them in the capable hands of the school staff. For safety can I please request that you do not gather at the school gate to hold discussions with other parents. (I do know this is tempting when you have not seen some of your friends for long periods of time but the safety of the children and staff is paramount) At the end of day your child will exit from the Nursery gate by the school office at 11.30am. This arrangement will apply every day until further notice.

Induction sessions and start date

Please find below the induction sessions for all of the new Reception children. These will last for two hours each day to give the children a chance to settle into their new environment and meet the staff following the school risk assessment. Unfortunately parents will not be able to accompany their child inside of the school building. Children to be brought to the main school office to enter that way. A member of staff will meet them at the door.
