Week Beginning 19th October 2020
This week in Phonics we are looking at the phonemes c and k. We are also doing lots of learning on blending sounds together to make words such as c-a-t, m-a-n, p-i-g, we are also looking at the graphemes for these letters and putting them together to make words to read. We are practising to write all the graphemes that we have learned so far: s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c and g. Can you form all of these letters? remember to start each letter at the top and keep your pen on the page until the letter is complete. Can you read or write any simple CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words?
In Maths this week we are starting to look at the numbers 1,2 and 3. We are looking at different ways of representing each of these numbers and what the number looks like. Can you make the numbers in different ways? Practise writing each of the numerals if you can.

This week we are looking at the story of ‘Room on the Broom’. We will be looking at rhyming language and making other rhyming words. We will be making our own witches hats and will be acting out the story as well as retelling it in our own words. We will be looking at pumpkins and seeing what is inside. We are also going to look at an erupting pumpkin with bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar.
Please continue to read everyday. Retell the story in your own words, use voices for the characters, make up your own endings and answer questions about what you can see. Can you remember what happened in the story without looking at the pictures? What happened at the beginning middle and end of the story?
