We have been reading the story ‘Room on a broom’ by Julia Donaldson.
We have been having lots of fun taking part in lots of ‘witchy’ activities linked to the story such as potion making, pumpkin bashing and scooping out and making wands. These activities have helped us develop our fine motor skills, be creative and inspire our imagination.
The children have been learning all about the season Autumn. They have been exploring the changes in the environment that occur during Autumn time and collecting Autumn objects at home and on our Autumn walk.
We also did some threading, painting and made some Autumn tree pictures using Autumn colours – brown. yellow, red and orange.
This week in Nursery we have been learning our 2d shapes and our prime colours.
We have learnt about the 2d shapes Triangle, Circle, Square and Rectangle and their properties and sorted them into groups. We created models using differnt shape blocks.
We also practiced recognising our colours and sorting objects by colour.
We went on a shape walk looking for shapes in the environment.
Nursery have been reading the story of the Owl babies written by Martin Waddell
We have talked about our feelings and how they Owl babies would be feeling when they woke up to find their mummy gone.
We used puppets to retell the story and made our own owls using feathers.
Settling In
We would like to say a big well done to all the children for settling in to Nursery so well.
We have had lots of fun getting to know each other, making new friends and learning the Nursery rules.

We have been learning all about the season of Spring.
We went on a Spring walk looking for signs of Spring.
We learnt how to plant a Sunflower seeds and know that it needs soil, air, sun and water to grow.
In Nursery we have been learning all about different people who help us such as police officers, fire fighters, dentists, teachers and the ambulance service.
We have learnt about who the people that help us are and when we might need them.
We had a visit from police officers Amy and Matt who brought with them a police vehicle for the children to explore and told us all about how they help us in our community. The children loved it.
In Nursery we have been reading the stories; goldilocks and the three bears, the three little pigs and the gingerbread man and doing lots of activities linked to each story.
